Favourite Computer Game of All Time!
What is everyone's fav pc/console game of all time?
It doesn't have to be your current favourite (if you still play them): try and remember the game you had the most fun playing.
There's so many to choose from with me: Mortal Kombat, Deus Ex, Neverwinter Nights, Seven Kingdoms, Starcraft, Shining Force 2, Condition Zero, Battle for Middle Earth...
But it would have to come down to these two games (so it'll be a dual crowning): Landstalker on the Sega Megadrive, and Warcraft 3.
I remember hiring Landstalker from the video shop for the first time. I couldn't get past the first bit and I thought it was crap. Then I hired it again when I was a little bit older and couldn't stop playing it for a week. I still didn't finish it, so then I hired it and played it every day and night for another week until I did finish it. It was soooooooo much fun.
I wouldn't say that the normal game of Warcraft 3 is that good. It provides a little bit of fun I suppose. The real fun in this game is playing the custom modified maps multiplayer. In these maps you join a team, choose a hero and then your team of heroes battles it out against another team of heroes. The fun that this has brought, especially when you are playing against people you know, has just been amazing. I think that because of these cool maps, Warcraft 3 is probably the most long-lived game I know of.
So.... what about you guys?

MARIO KART!!!! My favourite game of all time! I like the N64 version the best, but any version will do me!
And I love multi-player bomberman on the PS2, sooooo much fun! I'm more into multi player games than just me playing.
And there is this awesome game (forget what it's called) and all you have to do is zoom down a freeway then cause as many accidents as you can by crashing. You win by causing the most $ amount damage. It's awesome!
Great post! Here go my awards:
Game with most nostalgic quality:
Shadows of the empire
Used to borrow a N64 with this game on my birthday for a couple of years when I was about 6 or 7. I loved that game.
First game owned and beaten:
Crash bandicoot 3 - Yeah, it's fun
Most amount of time played on one game:
Escape Velocity, and it's mod sequel Escape Velocity Override, I must have played (before I registered it, it counted hours) over 600 hours. An old Mac game which unfortunately doesn't work on my lappy at all
The most emmersive game ever:
The first two Oddworld series, Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exodus. When I first played them, I completely forgot there was a reality outside of this game. Even though it's a sidescroller, I felt I was in the game. The characters are so real, the cultures feel like they existed and grew, you feel like your not being lead on a journey, but more you are deciding where to go. It's... it's undescribable.
The most replayable game:
In Nethack, which also takes the award for the most addictictive game, you seriously die every couple of minutes. You have to start the game over, make a new character and go again. It also takes the award for least graphics (your character is an '@' symbol) but you can do almost anything. I once dipped a longsword into a fountain, and it turned into excalibur and killed me because I was evil. I zapped my pet cat with a wand of polymorph and it turned into a creature made out of paper.
This is excluding multiplayer as they can't be compared.
The overall award goes to:
Abe's Exodus. My retrospectively favourite game. I finished it in a week first try, that's pretty dang good for this puzzle game.
I believe Dboy went on a trip to... that place with the penguins or somesuch. Hence, lack of comments
I'm commenting alright! I juts happened to be at Philip Island yesterday looking at koalas and playing mini golf with my wife.
Wow... I can't believe Abe's Exodus got your favourite game. That game was so hard. But you're right - it did have fantastic graphics and really cool characters & theme.
Hehehe... C&C vs. Warcraft 1 - Westwood vs Blizzard. Old, old rivals. I never really got into C&C unfortunately, Warcraft always took all my attention (hours and hours and hours and hours), and then C&C seemed a little boring with its contemporary setting (Warcraft had orcs and warlocks and wizards and demons!). But so many people loved C&C, so it must've been really good.
Civilisation was sooooooo good! Wow... nostalgia times a million.
Mario Kart was a fav for so many as well - great multiplayer.
too many people rely on legs.
All fear Anonymous: The angry cripple
Now there's a movie title if ever I heard one
Hehehe... what about:
"Fury of the One-Footed"?
I like how it isn't relevant.
Your mother isn't relevant.
No seriously, she isn't.
At the moment i'm playing Teenage Muntant Ninja turtles BattleNexus2 or some crap like that with my sis coz its a 2 playa game. I liked the lord of the rings games i haven't bet them yet i kinda stoped for some reason.
I want to be a turtle with a hat!
Hehe... it's true - it's weird what u remember and what you don't. Like my name. Either of the above applies.
That comment from Anonymous is either Brent or Alex Wynn. Hands down.
Dboy does not have an apostraphe, turtle-brain.
D'boy sounds more sophisicated. Perhaps French.
OK, you want a game that is "immersive?" (Read: sucks out your soul and wraps you in chains to your computer chair for all eternity)
World of Warcraft.
It's become so bad lately, I've called it "World of Warcrack." I managed to "kick the habit" for about a month and a half. Now I've got 2 high-level characters and a selection of noobs.
I've sold my soul to Blizzard. Nuff said.
I used to be a bit addicted to warcraft 2, but I got off the stuff years ago.
Hahaha.... of the stuff.
Yeah, maybe I don't wanna get into WoW.
