What Are We All Reading At The Moment?

I'm stuck into both Ezekiel (on my way through the Bible) and C.S. Lewis' autobiography "Surprised By Joy".

Ezekiel is something like the fourth 'doom and gloom' prophet I've read in a row, so I should probably mix it up a bit so that it becomes different from everything else, and "Surprised By Joy" is really fun. C.S. Lewis describes things in a really deep way with beautiful language.

Reading books is Dan's best treat

C.S. Lewis is the person who wrote Narnia right?

I've been told to read 1984 too, but haven't. Maybe I should. Maybe I will. But not now. Not until I'm ahead with my assignments.

Your poetry is becoming quite a feature in our blogs, Kohl. They're great! You should make a blog that introduces each post with a poem. A+, keep up the good work.

revhead, can you give me a bit of something interesting on Ezekiel? I'm finding it a chore.

Ooops! Did I say that out loud?
*covers himself in preparation from being smitten*
I meant that ALL of the Bible is fascinating to EVERYONE, ALL of the time!

Anyway, I'm reading 'a lineage of grace' by francine rivers, 'how people grow' by cloud & townsend, 'inside out' by larry crabb, '1984' by george orwell, and a thousand other books for college.

Ok, DBoy, Here's your personal code for a 'smiting'....

Enter this slowwwly into a landline telephone during a thunderstorm.. should work.

Books like ezekiel are collections of prophecies / oracles /poems/ accounts given over a period of israel's history. Probably ezekiel's followers / helpers / disciples edited his life's works and published them after his death. A bit like luke researching the jesus biog in the new testament.

See if you can find a readable history of israel from around 850-600ad and understand the back story, then come back and read ezekiel as if you were a jewish dude alive at the time.

A bit like reading the back story for a deep strategy or role playing game before getting into the game and instructions

remind me and i'll see what ive got down here.

Nice analogy to roleplaying games! Oooo, you know how to push my buttons...

I will do as such, once for each of thine instructions, yea for the latter it shall be the imperative that I yeild my typing in wait of the said thunder.

I hate reading more than one book at once, but I do it out of necessity for study.

I guess I just like to be fully focused on what I'm reading and I find it difficult to do that if I've got too many things on the go, it can get confusing for my poor brain.

Her reading life in complete disarray
