Schapelle's Schame

I saw her verdict today on tv. You should've seen her. She was praying furiously, breathing in huge gasps of air, tears welling up and spilling out, face becoming increasingly flustered and hot. She almost collapsed on the moment they read it out, so much pain written all over her.

I have three thoughts:

1. I am very grateful that she didn't get the death sentence - no one should ever be made to die for their mistakes (intentional or otherwise) - ESPECIALLY not for something other than murder or rape.

2. The fact that (apparently) she was bringing the dope into a place where it would be less valuable than where she was bringing it from makes me think that it wasn't her doing. That, and the fact that it was hardly even concealed in her board bag. That doesn't make sense to me.

3. The fact that she won't tell them who packed her bag makes me wonder what she has to hide. Is she doing it to protect someone? This is such a tough situation. It doesn't seem like anything is fair.

Did we know that she gave her life to Christ in jail? Wow. Eternal rewards for 'momentary' trauma. At least Schapelle can know that she is better off forever because of this absolutely horrible time that she is having now. Let's hope they get to the bottom of this when they appeal...

Assignment Fun

Grrrr... Uni Assignments get my goat, and I needed that goat. I got 4 assignments due in the very near future, and I've gotta work out what on earth they're all about. I don't know! I don't go to lectures! Lectures are for nerds. At least I don't have to do the 3000 per essay marathon (for eight essays per semester) that was my Arts degree. Don't wanna go back there...

Also, I'm pregnant, and it's difficult to sit down and write with morning sickness. At least I'm not pregnant.

The Yondike Cult

Megan mentioned that I should start a cult, and call it the Yondike Cult. So I am.

I AM.

That will be the premise of this cult, I think, that Danny exists. That will also be the only required belief from my members. If you don't believe that I exist, then you can't enter my cult.

There are also rules, and these are such:
1. Thou shalt not dye your hair any colour other than what you want to colour it at the time of your colouring!
2. Thou shalt think! Twice per day! At least!
3. Thou shalt reade this funnie ye olde englishe withe 'e's alle overe the place e. E.
4. Thou shalt allow this list to be continued... after further revelations when I can think of other dumb stuff. I mean awesome dumb stuff. I mean stuff.

Now to go do some recruiting...

I know I know I know!

The revhead (ie. Sam), has got to be Dan Hoyne. I know this due to the fact that I went through all of my overly articulate and witty friends, and I'm quite sure I wasn't able to send the original email to Paul Baldwin (who I originally thought it was at the very very start), so it has to be Dan! Martin Boutros would be the other one, but I can't imagine him calling himself 'therevhead', especially due to the very poor use of punctuation and capital letters. F+!

C.S. Lewis Shenannigans

C.S. Lewis is great, at least that's what my brain is telling me right now to type in this little text box I see before me.

I thought I'd open a thread of discussion about the guy, due to the interest... of... things.

I'm reading the Chronicles of Narnia at the moment. The language is a bit simple, but the story is great and you can sit there and ponder over the morals of each chapter for hours - he's really encapsulated the whole fable thing brilliantly.

"The Revhead" was saying that "That Hideous Strength" is a very cool sci-fi book written by Lewis. I didn't even know that the guy wrote sci-fi.

Anyone read the Screwtape Letters? What did you think?

My Gorgeous Wife Posted by Hello

Greetings from Perriwinkle!

Hello! I am much the enjoying your visit to this, as they say, 'blog'. I am not yet sure what a blog is, so I intend to use this little piece of the internet to ramble on about nonspecifics and contemplative jibberish!

Who am I? This is unimportant, or yet more specifically, unimportant.

My name is Daniel Harrison Symons. I am doing a Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary) at Melbourne university and am loving it - learning about learning, students, big smacks and wonderfully fulfilling the purpose that God has awesomely led me towards. I go to Eltham Baptist Church, have recently created a micro-church (cell group) with a group of beautiful people.

I love: tennis (although haven't been in a team since I married my beautiful wife in Nov '03), warhammer, anything science fictiony and medieval fantasy-y, FUTURAMA, film, English and English Literature (this is what I teach!), Risk nights, my family who I miss very much, my in-laws (awesome bunch), C.S. Lewis, Shakespeare (mmmmm....), Monty Python (John Cleese!), Firefly (recently axed sci-fi series), my wife, the thought of teaching in England next year, the though of being a dad, computer games! (Warcraft, Battle for M.E., Deus Ex, and so on and so on and so on), philosophy (my other major in my degree - Freud, Neitszche, Voltaire, Hobbes, etc.), theology (William Lane Craig is a genius), prayer, and some more stuff that I might add later...

My question to you is: turtle.
